It doesn't appear to be a grade curve
It reads as another number on the page. NOT a curve to a student's score. So it's just more information that an admitting university may to choose to use (or not) when evaluating an applicant.
I would imagine that most college applications already include demographic questions, and much of the rest of what goes into this adversity score can be derived based on what high school they attended and/or the applicant's address. Colleges that have elected to care about such things likely already have their own version of this.
So other than those that find comfort in claiming the decline of Western Civilization finding another reason to do so, I don't see the big deal?
